Farm Aid 2006 to Farm Bill 2007

As all interested parties await the U.S. Congress debate on the 2007 Farm Bill (Healthy Farms, farm bill.bmpFoods and Fuels Act) which will enable farm policies to be reshaped, I thought it would be helpful to share a reminder of the issues at hand which I have outlined below. And in an effort to create an online Farm Bill pep rally, I invite you to watch the video below of Jerry Lee Lewis' world famous rendition of "Great Balls of Fire" at Farm Aid 2006 in Camden, NJ.  There is a possibility that Farm Aid will come to NYC in 2007.  Rock on and Farm On!  Well we recently lost Jerry Lee Lewis--thank you Google! So we Dave Matthews instead.  Enjoy....
Farm Policy Reforms:
  • Reward Stewardship--Farm policy should reward farmers, ranchers and forest landowners when they take steps to protect the environment.
  • Boost Energy Development-Farm policy should support energy development on farms, ranches and forest lands.
  • Help Farmers Develop New Markets--Farm Policy should provide incentives fr farmers to create new products and new markets.
  • Help Farmers Proivde Healthy Food Choices--Farm Policy should reward farmers when they take steps to provide more healthy food choices.
  • Enhance Rural Communities--Farm policy should create jobs and improve the environment in rural communities.
