Owning Farm Animals
JERSEY COW WORSHIP. NO THAT'S NOT IT,
JERSEY COW RESEARCH....
AND THE Cows GAVE WAY TO CAPONS
which then gave way to PIGS....
Well, the cows gave way to Ethan's capons as of August 2006. Ethan decided capons were more useful overall to the family and community then the cow. So instead of a dairy journey we're back to poultry.
As it turned out the vet hired to caponize the roosters wasn't very good at it and the capons wanted to hang with the chickens (or do something to the chickens). As a result the chickens were not very happy because instead of the obligatory two or three roosters they now had to contend with a flock of them. And you know what happens when chickens aren't happy?? They don't lay as many eggs. So the capon experiment ended in short order because the hens are the farm's star employees and no hen was ever fired at this farm!
So, let's just say the two baby pigs, named ham and bacon (or November and December), have very comfortable quarters. Okay, so they don't quite know how to make use of the coop, roosts and so on yet, but otherwise it's quite cozy....One pig is a Dorset and the other doesn't seem to have an affiliation....?
