About Little House Farm--Where Sustainability And Urban Living Intersect
I am a city inhabitant
">
Holly contemplating something... and have a particular interest in sustainability and community building in order to help preserve our resources. I am also deeply interested in preventive health through food (read: vegetarian by way of Ayurveda) and a fierce New Yorker (who travels, sometimes with her own fork--yes kapha)! With this web site I am combining my degree in Nutrition with my technology background to demonstrate how farm fresh food can intersect with a healthy, urban life.
This web site was originally developed with my brother's sustainable farm in mind. Little House Farm is located in the Hudson River Valley in New York State. The farm began as a weekend refuge and has become a full-time experiment in community building and sustainability as Ethan explores his interests in solar energy and Blair and Winnie explore their love of animals.
The farm animals have taken a fork in the road (to borrow an expression). The inhabitants of the farm,
Yes...the forknow almost too numerous to mention, continue to travel down a country road while I will be exploring sustainable, city avenues.
Needless-to-say, the farm animals are still very good employees, producing a whole lot of food for my brother's winter table and the vegetable garden produces amazing brussels sprouts, tomatoes, fraise de bois, raspberries, pumpkins, etc., etc.
There are a host of strategic relationships around food in NYC that I will be exploring with this web site and I look forward to your continuing to join me. These relationships will underscore the power of food, the need for food security and building a healthy family table.
Join me!
Holly
